Reflective light in my new bathroom project... could not resist looking and seeing the beautiful prism colors from the stained glass window. Yes, the windows are old-fashioned, but in this more modern house, such an eclectic look is just the chic look I was after! Just looking at this room when touring the home and saw this bonus shot...the sun coming through the colorful window and the organic patterns on the floor..stupendous!

*TIP OF THE DAY...it is all in the details, and perfection takes time! I want to make sure that cabinet doors that are to match the floor stain color are as close as humanely possible. Samples have been made, BUT instead of laying these samples ON the surface of the floor, you MUST look at them in the position that they will occur, perpendicular to the flooring...and then match!

POW! I take inspiration for my interior design from EVERYWHERE! What inspires me in this photo is not what you think. The balance in the photo and the beauty of the red snapper are certainly some sort of attraction. Let there be light! So many beautiful options to illuminate a room these days! Right now, my client needs a good amount of light within an impressive chandelier. Glass designs give me the best option as they occupy a good amount of ceiling area and still enable the room to really be filled with light. What more can you ask except options, options, options!

Choosing outdoor paint colors... a challenge. The mass of a house and the intense nature of the color you choose is so important. In this case, the gutters are white so the trim needs to work with the gutter white...not a fan of painting the aluminum. Soft gray, which is the same as is there now OR a slightly warmer gray, are the options. Sherwin Williams is my paint vendor of choice when I choose gray tones. I LOVE Benjamin Moore, but you have to know the strengths and weaknesses of paint companies. Small samples are the first step, then paint boards and then a request to the painter to actually paint 2 costs of the chosen color on the house to be sure to finalize the decision. Which would you choose?

Wallpaper is in style and so is tile, dimensional tile. Using this in a bathroom is easy, but using it as art can be really creative. Perhaps the gold festooned square can invite a visitor into a beautiful entryway... or perhaps it can be grouped and framed like art. Maybe the monochromatic relief graces a mudroom or potting shed where the outdoors is brought in with the earth-tones of the tile. Actually, the creativity and the placement of these beautiful tiles is neverending...and up to you!

"Going to any lengths for my clients," that is my motto. One of the hardest tasks that a designer has to accomplish is showing the client 3D space in real time... the space an item will occupy. In this case, we are about to purchase an extremely expensive light fixture. I want to assure the client that it will be perfect for the spot! Building a template representing the space the light will occupy is a little effort for a grand finish, don't you agree? Going that extra yard makes all of the difference!
